You remember that old science class factoid, that our bodies are over 60% water. Long before we’d heard of ions and pH levels, we all knew that hydration was important. Whether you’re an elite athlete or simply want to keep your skin looking great (check out my healthy skin post), staying properly hydrated is essential to full-body health. So if water is such a big deal, shouldn’t we be reaching for the best water possible? And since we’ve all read, heard and felt the benefits of clean, additive-free foods - why should we expect anything less from our water?
I’ve been a fan of Essentia since I stumbled across one day about a year and a half ago. By now you’ve probably heard about alkaline water and how its lower acidity levels help maintain a balanced pH in the body. What you may not know is how most other waters achieve this alkalinity - by adding minerals, minerals that can have a ton of unintended effects. Essentia achieves the same higher alkaline levels, but it does so using a proprietary ionization process. Basically, it just removes the acidic ions, rather than adding a bunch of stuff to your water. Sounds better, huh?
And you athletes out there will love this. In a recent clinical study, dehydration was measured in 100 subjects - 50 drinking Essentia and 50 drinking regular purified bottled water - by taking blood viscosity levels before and after exercise. After two hours, Essentia proved to be significantly more hydrating than the other water. Who knows, that could be the difference between a decent finish and a new personal best.
